Nature and Nurture Vegan Skincare Review

I think I have found my new favourite Skincare brand. Nature and Nurture are all about the benefits of natural skincare using sustainably sourced ingredients and with no synthetic nasties. The catalyst for this new brand was the discovery of the damage that the palm oil industry is doing to our environment and their beautiful inhabitants.

For example, did you know that Indonesia alone has destroyed an area of rainforest as large as Germany to make way for oil-palm plantations? This often occurs through burning the forest and everything in it to the ground. In 2006, oil-palm workers clubbed to death 1500 orangutans to make way for plantations. All this information and more can be found on the Nature and Nurture website.

This shocking discovery spurred Nature and Nurture to develop an eco friendly and effective range that works just as well as the mainstream brand’s offering and I have to say they didn’t disappoint. The products feel luxurious to use and the packaging is sophisticated and something you might see in a fancy hotel.. What’s more a portion of every sale goes to the Orangutan Foundation.

Wrinkle Repair Night Serum £25

I’ve not really used a night serum before and I loved the experience. It has a sweet smelling, subtly fruit scent due to the apricot oil. I applied it after my moisturiser and left it to sink in over night.  It felt super nourishing for my skin, like I was giving it an extra treat.

Instant Lift Eye Gel £19

As my under eyes have always been a problem area for me, I was really excited to use this product. Containing aloe vera, chamomile and cucumber extract, these are known to soothe tired eyes and reduce puffiness. I definitely felt that the area felt more mositurised and look forward to seeing if they will affect my dark circles in the weeks to come.

Youth Protect Moisturiser £22

Having gotten used to using a cream based moisturiser, I was interested to try out this product which is much more gel like in consistency. I found it to be nourishing for my skin and immediately made it feel super soft.

Derma-Renew Exfoliating Cleaser

I was expecting this product to have a rougher consistency but in actual fact, it was very gentle on my skin. Instead of using those controversial plastic beads, the cleanser contains naturally derived apricot kernels. It was a joy to use and left my skin feeling clean and rejuvenated.

My verdict? Even though the range is a little on the pricey side in comparison to the products I have been using, I would say they are totally worth the extra money for the use of quality, sustainable products and also, to know that you are benefiting the environment by choosing this brand.

LVB’s August Favourites

To end my whole month of BEDA (Blogging Every Day in August), I thought I would show you all what I have been loving this month. Here are my August favourites.

Hurrah Lip balm

Hurraw offers tons of different scents but the lime is definitely my fave. Leaves lips soft and moisturised.

Tesco Free From Choc ‘N’ Crispie Bar

Another triumph from the Tesco Free From range, I already love their dairy free chocolate buttons, this Choc ‘N’ Crispie bar has the taste of milk chocolate with a crunchy texture.

Dr Organic Virgin Olive Oil Hand and Nail Cream

Perfect for this time of year, this cream has a subtle, pleasant smell and a lovely rich consistency. I am yet to be disappointed by a Dr Organic product.

My favourite store cupboard ingredient. I use this for salad dressings as well as a sauce for buddha bowls and stir fry’s.

Wonder by RJ Palacio

A recent 5 star read, Wonder tells the story of August, a 10 year old boy with a facial deformity and his first year at school from the perspective of himself as well as his friends and family. Heartwarming, touching and thought provoking.

Tesco Cheese Nachos

My final favourite this month is this new Free From product from Tesco – Cheese flavour nachos. Satisfying and delicious, a great authentic cheesy taste with a hint of garlic. Love.

P.S. I’m (sadly) not actually sponsored by Tesco but it is generally where I shop. Other supermarket retailers are available.

My absolute favourite vegan shampoo and conditioner. Amazing smell and leaves my hair soft and clean. The coconut is a favourite too.

Organii Organic Shower Gel Strawberry Shower Gel £5.95

I was lucky enough to receive this in a Vegan Kind box a few months ago and completely fell in love with it. The strawberry scent is gorgeous.

Cruelty Free Make-up Favourites

Thankfully, cruelty free and vegan beauty products are becoming much more widely available in the UK and probably more brands than you realise offer such products. Websites such as Cute Cosmetics are a great resource for finding new brands and being safe in the knowledge that no animal was harmed for the dressing up of your face.  Here’s a pick of some of my everyday favourites.

Neve Cosmetics Eye Palette £ 21.95

So far, this is the only Neve product I have used but I will definitely be investing in some more. Ok, so it’s rather on the pricey side but it’s long lasting and great quality. The colours are perfect for creating an every day make-up look and won’t fade after a long day at work.

Tarte Clay Amazonian Clay Foundation £28

First purchased in the US, I had previously heard great things about this foundation and it certainly lived up to the hype. Gives great coverage and a smooth finish.  The only tricky thing is to find the right colour amongst the wide palette available.

Too Faced Absolutely Flawless Concealer £15

Too Faced is a great brand with the majority of the products being vegan. I loved this concealer. A great consistency for covering under eye circles and blemishes.

B. Rich Intense Colour Lipstick in Eton Mess £5.99

If you didn’t know by now, all of Superdrug’s own brand makeup and skincare is vegan and cruelty free. Not only that, it’s extremely reasonably priced.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara £19

I love this mascara. Definitely the best cruelty free one I’ve tried so far. The innovatively designed brush makes for easy and quick application and I love the fact that the more coats you apply, the more dramatic the look.

Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay Matt Bronzer

I use this as more of a blusher and it works wonders. It gives me a natural glow and lasts all day.

Kat Von D Beauty Tattoo Eyeliner £

I am rarely without an eyeliner flick and this one by Kat Von D is amongst the best I have ever used. It give intense colour and most importantly, doesn’t smudge or budge! Kat Von D has just announced that she will be reformulating her entire range to be vegan and cruelty free and the brand has just launched at Debenhams.
