There are a million and one reasons why I’m running the 26.2 miles of the Virgin London Marathon to raise money for PETA. Here are just 5 of them.
Ban on Wild Animals in the Circus
How are we still living in a time when the use of intelligent wild animals in circus performances is still allowed? So far, 17 Countries have banned this cruel, unnecessary act. The UK government stated that it would implement a ban by 2015 but we are still waiting. PETA continues to oppose this and is making great steps to get this bill passed as soon as possible.
Fight against Angora
PETA has worked to expose the cruel industry that produces Angora and in doing so high profile fashion brands such as The Kooples, Hugo Boss, Benetton and Tommy Hilfiger have pledged to keep it out of their collections.
Seaworld Campaign
On the back of the hard-hitting Black Fish documentary, PETA have continue to keep up the momentum of pressure on Seaworld to empty their tanks. They successfully worked with Travel companies to severe their links with the park. Latest figures report that Sea World’s profits were down by 84% in 2015 and attendance is dropping.
Raising profile of Veganism
PETA offers up recipes, tips, reviews and guides on how easy it is to be vegan and shows the world the simplicity of making the ethical choice when it comes to what we put on our plates, wear on our backs and use on our faces.
Opening our eyes to the horrors of Factory Farming.
Especially in the UK, where still the majority of the British public do not believe such atrocities can happen so close to home, PETA UK have recently exposed a number of horrific factory farms and breeding facilities.
If you would be so kind as to support the great work of PETA and support me in my marathon journey. http://secure.peta.org.uk/p2p/gvsstk
