Bird’s Eye Review: The Vegan Kind box – #TVK 27

This month’s The Vegan Kind box is yet another good one. Snacks, skincare and a good old recipe book thrown in for fun. Here’s my review of January’s goodies.

Mini Vego Chocolate Bar £2.00

IMG_0557Every vegan’s favourite chocolate bar.  If you haven’t tried this yet, go track one down stat! Creamy, nutty and delicious.  Am glad these bad boys aren’t more widely available as I’d be munching on them daily.

Dr Organic Virgin Olive Oil Hand and Nail Cream £6.49

Always on the look out for a super enriching hand cream, Dr Organic’s range continues to impress with another stand out product.  This left my hands soft and dreamy.

Soffle’s Rosemary and Thyme Pitta Chips £1.20

I absolutely love these crisps. So tasty and gave good crunch.  Perfect dipped in hummus. @soffleschips

Squirrel Sisters Cacao Brownie £2.49

Cross between a brownie and a nakd bar, this was satisfying but not as decadent as I would have thought from the gorgeous packaging. @squirrelsisters

Provamel Rice Coconut Milk £0.80

One of my favourite dairy free milks, this has a naturally sweet flavour and tastes amazing in coffee. @provamel

Snact Apple and Raspberry Jerky £1.00

Made from surplus produce, these dried fruit snacks are good for on the go. I had the Apple and Raspberry flavour which had a subtle but sweet flavour. @snactNow

The VGN Recipe Book £1.50

Teen VGN, the girls behind the website that has been making veganism accessible for the young un’s, bring us this simple but effective cook book.  With great recipes such as Chickpea and Sweetcorn Burgers, Rocky Road and the Ultimate Chocolate Shake! @teenvgn

Thanks for reading.

LVB’s Favourite Podcasts

Does anyone else listen to Podcasts whilst they run? Or commute to work? Or walk to the shops? I am a little addicted.  Here’s a pick of some of my favourites:

Food For Thought

This was actually the first Podcast I ever downloaded and once I discovered Colleen Patrick-Goudreau’s wonderful ways, I binged listened to almost every episode.  Colleen’s approach is intelligent, well thought out, calm and positive.   My favourite episodes are still her series on the stages you go through when you turn vegan. Such a handy guide for new vegans or those wanting to learn more.

Ginger Runner

As I have a keen interest in running, I stumbled across the Ginger Runner podcast a year or so ago now.  Ethan Newbury is the charming, funny and engaging host and mostly ventures into the world of the Ultra Runner…somewhere I am not planning on going anytime soon (if ever) but it’s inspiring nevertheless to hear from such interesting guests who have achieved such impressive feats.

Not Your Milk

New to the scene, but all episodes so far have been super interesting and relatable. They’ve had on some great guests and I can’t wait to see what’s up next.

Rich Roll

A huge roll call (pardon the pun) of guests such as Kip Anderson, Timothy Shieff and Dr Michael Greger.  The Roll family explores spirituality and takes on varied topics such as vegan fitness, climate change and depression as well as secrets to unlock your best self!

Hosted by sister’s Gretchen Rubin and Elizabeth Kraft, the Happier podcast explores every day ways of enhancing your life. Grethen is the Author of The Happiness Project which is a book I highly recommend to everyone.  Instead of huge, monumental life changes, this focuses on the more manageable, smaller changes that can have a huge impact on your everyday life.

Vegan Revolution

Controversial, sharp as a whip an amusing as heck, Vegan Revolution is not afraid to take on any topic and tell it like it is.  VR’s guests all have a different approach and interesting take on all vegan related topics.  He is sure to do big things…

I would love to know your favourite podcasts and ideas to while away the time whilst pounding the pavements.

Thanks for reading.
