The Vegan Kind January Review

The Vegan Kind
The Vegan Kind

I had been enviously watching Youtube videos showing American subscription services for Vegan Snacks through the post and finally found a service offered in the UK. Forgive me for being a little late with this review but I’ve had a busy few weeks or so. My next post will explain all.

The Vegan Kind offers a monthly subscription box full of vegan goodies, everything from household and beauty products to savoury and sweet treats for the very reasonable price of £10 plus £2.95 p & p per month.

So, what was included in my first box that came in January?

Little Miss Meat Free’s Sticky Toffee Pudding Recipe Card

Such a good idea.  The Vegan Kind selected blogger Little Miss Meat-Free’s recipe for the English classic, Sticky Toffee Pudding. This is actually my boyfriend’s favourite dessert so I will be trying this out and letting you know how I get on.  It looks delicious.  Also, this means I have discovered a new vegan blogger, Katy and her website includes some fab dishes.  Be sure to check out her blog; http://www.littlemissmeat-free.co.uk

Perry Court Farm – Air dried Pear crisps

Hand picked from their farm in Kent, these are obviously a healthier alternative to other packeted snacks.  New to the world of the dried fruit, I was excited to try, especially as these have no added sugars but I have to say I was a little disappointed as they still tasted a little too sweet for me. However, if you want a snack on the go and don’t want to pick up a packet of crisps, then these aren’t a bad option.

Clearspring Organic – Dried Daikon

At first glance, I’ll admit, I didn’t have a clue what this was but after further investigation, I discovered that this intriguing little package is actually a giant white radish.  The accompanying handy recipe card gives some helpful hints for cooking this unusual veg and I will most definitely be trying it.  I love that The Vegan Kind allows me to try new things that I would never normally pick up so look forward to some new discoveries in the upcoming months.

Beond – Organic Acai Berry Bar

By now you should know that I am a fan of the snack bar on the go (sorry, didn’t mean to rhyme there) and the Beond range is definitely one to check out if you haven’t already. I hadn’t tried the Acai Berry one before and was pleasantly surprised at it’s refreshing taste and it managed to satisfy my afternoon sweet cravings.

Premae Skincare – Hand & Foot Cream

I love a good foot cream and have never seen this brand before so was interested to try it out.  Although, in a pretty tiny pot, I guess this gives you an opportunity to see if you like it before you buy.  I usually like my creams to have a little more scent but the consistency was good and sunk in quickly which is always a bonus.  Not sure, I’ll be rushing out to purchase this one though.

And my two favourites:

Considerit Chocolate Orange Mini truffle bar

Oh my my, this was good.  Sometimes I find non dairy chocolates to have a bit of a funny after taste and although good, do not compare to the dairy filled variety in taste. However, this little beauty is an exceptional treat. Creamy and delicious, I immediately looked up the website and set the link to my boyfriend. Let’s hope he takes the not so subtle hint for Easter. Although, not sure I can wait that long.

Landgarten Organic Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Snack

My other favourite for this month are these taste chocolate pumpkin seeds.  Great for some mindless eating and definitely a few more portions in here if you don’t get too carried away. These are extremely moreish!  Already went out and bought another packet.

What I also love about this subscription is that some of the included products also come with additional special offers so that if you like something, you can benefit from ordering at a discount. What a wonderful idea.

If that wasn’t enough, each month The Vegan Kind supports a chosen charity where 10p from every box sold goes to a featured cause.  January saw the Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary as the benefactor. What another lovely added bonus to this already amazing subscription service.

I have found the service to be incredibly professional, quick and helpful and would thoroughly recommend it to any new or established vegans or vegetarians who are looking to try new products and expand their vegan horizons.

Let me know if any of you have tried The Vegan Kind or know of any other Vegan friendly monthly boxes I can get my hands on.
