Favourite Fitness Youtubers

I probably spend way too much time on Youtube. Hey, its the voice of a generation, right? I’m always looking for new inspiration and motivation for Fitness, Health and Working Out. These are a few of my favourite Youtube channels that do just that.

Carly Rowena – Carly has an infectious way about her and her love for health and fitness really shines through in her videos. She has recently qualified as a Personal Trainer and I only have admiration for those who turn their passion into their career. Great fitness videos and general advice as well as some more quirky topics handled firmly with her tongue in her cheek.

Tone It Up – I’ve already expressed my love for these Tone It Up Girls who have also made Fitness their lives. Excellent motivating and engaging fitness videos all carried out with a smile on their lip glossed, gorgeous faces. They also have their own TV show on Bravo that just aired, doncha know?

BreeLovesBeauty – With wisdom beyond her years, Cambria’s channel is a joy to watch. She is dedicated to working on a healthy body and mind and has loads of ideas to achieve this. From recipe videos, to healthy food hauls to general inspiration, all achieved with a bright and breezy positive manner in the California sunshine.

Sarah Fit – actually friends with the Tone It Up girls, Sarah’s channel covers everything from ‘What I Eat in A Day’ , grocery hauls, workout tips, fitness gadgets and tons more. Again, I love that she allows herself treats and is realistic about her goals and other peoples. Another lovely and inspiring youtuber.

Healthy Happy Life. Gemma has such a charming, sweet manner about her and I love that she admits when she is having her off days too. Great vegetarian recipe ideas and quick and easy tips. Be sure to check out Gemma’s website as well where she has recently been posting her food diary. I’m so nosy, I love it. http://www.gemsmaquillage.com/

Let me know if you have any more suggestions of Youtubers I should check out. I would love to know.

Thanks for Reading.

Ch-Ch-Cha-Changing Up My Fitness Routine

I am as guilty as the rest of us of for falling into a fitness routine, or as some may call it slump. I get comfortable with what I’m doing and then stick at it…for months on end. However, as most likely everyone knows, to achieve the best results, you should change up your routine at least every 3-4 weeks.

Workout Gear selfie

I tend to work out at least 4 times per week. This usually consists of about 2 gym work outs that goes as follows:

– Approx 40 mins of cardio, usually treadmill running

– Free weights, concentrating on arm work (mostly those bingo wings)

– 20 Press ups (10 normal, 10 girly ones)

– Sit ups/Crunches

And 2 Body Combat classes at my gym. I absolutely love Body Combat. For those of you that don’t know, this is basically martial art routines to some banging (and not so banging) tunes.

Body Combat - this is unfortunately, not me.

2013 was the year that I discovered my love for Running outdoors. However, this was all well and good when I was running on a beautiful, warm, picturesque beach in sunny Florida. The reality of chilly, muddy North London, brought me right back down to earth and I only managed to go on another 5 or so runs and my butt was back in the air conditioned comfort of my local gym.

2014

So, my plans for 2014? In a nutshell; more variety. I want to try new things, push myself and get out of my comfort zone – something I’m really not great at doing.

Dancing – I have danced since I was 3 years old. Everything from Ballet and Jazz to Hip Hop and Zumba but over the last few years I have lost by way a bit. It’s a huge passion of mine so I’m going to get back on it.

Classes – I want to try new classes. Dare I say Spin? Eeek, a word that has filled me with dread over the years and I always brushed it off as not for me. 2014 is the year, I should at least try one class, right? Besides the instructors are HOT!

Yoga – this is something I have dabbled with for about 14 years and when I go, I love it. I just need to find the right class for me and keep going.

Running – Again, I tend to get to a distance or time I’m comfortable with and stick at it but this year, I want to improve my time and run further than I have before. Enter some new lovely running gear please.

Gym – I need to push myself more, set goals for myself and add more variety to my routine. I’ve already started this by adding more weights and mat exercises such as squats and lunges and I’m enjoying it.

Lastly, I can’t talk about fitness without mentioning the Tone It Up Girls. I am just slightly obsessed right now. These two gorgeous girls are trained fitness experts and their multimillion dollar empire began with uploading exercise routines onto Youtube. They now have a huge community of woman all with the same goal to love and take care of their bodies. You can sign up for free weekly workouts, recipes & motivation or you can purchase lifetime membership which includes a nutrition plan (they even have a vegan one) and lots of other extra content. At the moment, I am taking advance of all of the free content and checking out their multiple youtube fitness videos. Let me know if any of you have signed up for the plan and what you think of it. http://www.toneitup.com

5 More Veggie Eateries

In my last blog post, I mentioned 5 Vegetarian restaurants that I really want to visit this year. These were perhaps the more obvious ones that have achieved accolades and fame within the veggie community. Today, I thought I would talk about 5 more restaurants that are not as well known but that I am still interested to try out (and of course, review for you guys).

Tibits – on Heddon Street uses fresh, seasonal ingredients and offers a large variety of vegetarian soups, salads and hot dishes which changes frequently. I love the idea of the monthly ‘Vegan days’ on which all of their hot dishes are vegan. Yippee! Looking forward to a lunchtime trip here to brighten up my work day.

Itadaki Zen – a Japanese Vegan restaurant who believe that food is medicine, not only linked to health of the body but also of the mind. As well as boasting delicious and nutritious food, this unique restaurant also holds workshops, exhibitions and live music. I am eager to try one of the set menus to experiment with new ingredients I’ve never eaten before. Konbu seaweed anyone?

Rainforest Creations – With food stalls in Chelsea, Hammersmith and Old Spitalfields and Alexander Palace farmers markets , Rainforest Creations specialises in Carribean, raw, tropical and organic delights. This, to me, sounds like a perfect Sunday activity of market browsing and new yummy food discoveries. The menu looks like a super healthy offering of mixed salads and wraps as well as some vegan sweet treats.

The Gallery Cafe – Another eatery that isn’t just about the food, The Gallery Cafe in Bethnal Green holds a program of live events and exhibitions. However, it’s the food we want to hear about and this Vegan & Vegetarian cafe is becoming known for their Full English Breakfast which includes tofu scramble, which I am still yet to try (I know! I know!) and their vegan cheese pizzas are fresh to order so now I just need to decide whether to go for breakfast or dinner?!

Black Cat Cafe, Hackney – 100% Vegan, this Not-For-Profit cafe and shop opened in December in replacement of Pogo cafe and so far I can only find very good reviews. It appears that they have a daily changing menu that leans heavily on the healthier side of comfort food. Apparently £10 will get you a drink, main and dessert so this is definitely one for the post-Christmas pay check.

Let me know if any of you have been to these restaurants as I would love to hear your thoughts and also if you have any more recommendations for me?

Top 5 Vegetarian Restaurants to visit in 2014

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I have lived in London for almost 10 years now and I am ashamed to say that I have yet to explore what London’s has to offer in the form of the best vegetarian restaurants. This may be due to the fact that for the majority of this time, I was still a struggling twenty-something living on a fashion industry wage but I have decided that this is the year I will make my way through this much heralded list.

222 Veggie Vegan

My boyfriend and I actually received vouchers for 222 Veggie Vegan for Christmas so we are very excited to check this one out. All dishes are made to order and they pride themselves on using fresh and natural ingredients so this sounds like a healthy treat too good to miss.

SAF

Another Kensington based restaurant, SAF located on the first floor of Whole Foods (yet another excuse to go), stands for Simply Authentic Food and offers a very exciting fully vegan menu. Can’t wait for this one.

Vanilla Black

Now switching things up a little for some more fancier fare , Vanilla Black has won several accolades, including being named the ‘best vegetarian restaurant in the country’ by The Independent. One for a special occasion.

The Gate

I plan to visit the Islington branch, the younger sister of the original Hammersmith restaurant. I’m looking forward to checking out the culturally diverse menu.

Rasa

Firstly, I am intrigued by the hot pink store front and secondly my boyfriend loves Indian food so this is the perfect place to take him on his birthday, coming up in March. After emailing the restaurant, I was told that they offer vegan options in the Stoke Newington branch so this is the one I will be going to.

I would love to hear your opinions on any of these eateries if you’ve been, as well as some order recommendations.

A Year in Review: My 2013 – Part 2: Things I’ve Done and Other Stuff

So part 2 of my Year In Review and these are just some of the things I’ve done this year with a little silliness thrown in there too. Because I’ve worked and been away so much this year, I’ve not done nearly as much in London or in the UK in general and hopefully 2014 will be the year to remedy that. We have such a beautiful country and I don’t feel I’ve seen enough of it.

Things I’ve Done

Some Other Stuff

Thanks for reading and hope you all have had an amazing 2013. Can’t wait to create some new and exciting content in 2014. I’m just getting started. 🙂

Happy New Year.

A Year in Review: My 2013 Part 1: Where I’ve Been and What I Ate

Happy New Year, everyone. It’s that time to reflect back on how my year has been. But instead of focusing on all of the things I didn’t do, I have decided to focus on the things I did. I am lucky enough to have travelled a lot for work this year, go to some amazing places, have some special trips with my family and of course eat some yummy food. Here’s just a few highlights:

Where I’ve Been

What I Ate

I would love to know what you got up to last year. Part 2 to follow tomorrow.

Thanks for reading.
